We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Chief Accountant with strong experience in the construction sector to join our client's team. He/she will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts
    payable/receivable, payroll, and cash management.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Monitor project cost allocation, revenue recognition, and work-in-progress (WIP)
    schedules.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports to senior management and external
    stakeholders.
  • Asist the Finance Manager of the Branch in the preparation of annual budgets and
    project-specific cost estimates.
  • Track budget variances and provide analysis to project managers and executives.
  • Implement cost-control procedures to improve profitability and financial
    efficiency.
  • Oversee contract accounting, including progress billing, retention, and variations.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, financial regulations, and industry specific rules for construction companies.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring strong internal controls.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory changes.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the daily cash-flow needs and ensure adequate liquidity for ongoing projects.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring high-quality financial practices.

 

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, project costing, and WIP management.
  • Expertise in local tax regulations, VAT, and financial reporting standards (IFRS).
  • Knowledge of SAP is an advance.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven experience in team management.
  • High level of accuracy, discretion, and professional integrity.
  • Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally with operational teams.
