Job description

We are looking for a skilled Product Configuration Engineer (SAP AVC) on behalf of our international partner, a global leader in smart intralogistics solutions, digitalization, and tailored customer technologies. In this strategic role, you will help shape the next generation of configuration capabilities inside the Engineering Center, working on highly configurable products where simplification, customization, and future-proof architecture create real business impact.

Your Role

• Own the target architecture for the transition from classic LO-VC to SAP S/4HANA AVC, including migration principles, modeling decisions, and rollout standards.
• Define scalable modeling standards for characteristics, classes, dependencies, characteristic groups, constraints, and variant tables to ensure reusable, maintainable, and robust configuration models.
• Design and implement enterprise-grade AVC models that support end-to-end configuration across sales, planning, production, and engineering.
• Harmonize configuration logic across Product Engineering, Product Data, Sales, and Operations to improve consistency, reduce complexity, and support cross-functional alignment at scale.
• Drive the redesign of legacy models toward table-driven, constraint-based, high-quality AVC structures with a strong focus on maintainability and performance.
• Establish governance for model quality, simulation, testing, and controlled change across the configuration lifecycle.
• Ensure clean integration of configurable BOMs, routings, and downstream business processes from order capture to production execution.

 

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on and architectural experience in SAP Variant Configuration, with strong focus on SAP S/4HANA AVC.
• Proven track record in LO-VC to AVC transition programs or major redesigns of complex configuration landscapes.
• Deep expertise in characteristics, classes, object dependencies, constraints, procedures, variant tables, super BOMs, routing integration, and end-to-end configuration processes.
• Strong understanding of AVC runtime behavior, the distinction between high-level and low-level configuration, and the use of simulation and testing to stabilize large models.
• Experience defining modeling standards, governance principles, and reusable design patterns for large product portfolios.
• Confident in leading cross-functional decisions across engineering, product data, sales, manufacturing, and IT.
• Experience with complex configurable products in machinery, industrial equipment, or intralogistics is highly desirable.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus.
