Roles and Responsibility

As a software engineer you will join efforts with teams that customizes experience for Multi Stream Operators like Virgin Media, providing adapted solutions for QAM/IP content distribution and software updates for production Set Top Boxes.

  •       Bring a direct contribution addressing activity from team’s JIRA backlog, with good predictability and reliability of the results, following the scrum agile process.
  •       Setup devices and configure environments to deploy and validate updates
  •       Build and exercise knowledge on media distribution services, media encoding and streaming standards, user-oriented content discovery
  •       Gain experience on deploying, debugging and configuring Linux based STBs
  •       Work onto a large common codebase, performing bug triage and evaluation, behavioral analysis and core functionalities assessments, functionality updates and refactoring
  •       Broaden understanding and contribute on performance and stability related type activities

Desired Skills

  •       Solid grounding base in Computer Science, experience working with C++ code in a complex software solution with legacy components
  •       General understanding of user interface paradigms and frameworks, Perforce, code review
  •       Comfortable working with Linux targeted software development flows
  •       Open minded, outspoken, and not afraid to explore and work at any layer of the software stack, aware of software delivery challenges
  •       Team player, collaborative attitude, good in making work relationships and leveraging knowledge and skills within the group
